Doctors

Dr. Greg Dugan

DVM

Dr. Dugan is a native of Pfafftown, North Carolina, and has been practicing small animal medicine for 16 years. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for his undergraduate and graduate school and earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has practiced in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and now does relief work in the Elkin area.

He and his wife have three adult children, Christopher, Shara, and Kendall, and one grandson, Christopher. Also part of their family is a dog, Murphy, a 5-year-old goldfish named Halloween, and a bearded dragon named Sheldon.

Dr. Dugan is a member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and currently resides in Rural Hall, North Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, sports, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Dawkins

DVM
Dr. Dawkins is one of the practicing veterinarians at Abri. He was born in San Francisco but has spent most of his life in North Carolina. He attended Clinton High School in Sampson County. Following his service in the Navy for three years as a Hospital Corpsman, Dr. Dawkins pursued higher education at Wake Forest University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and history. After a brief hiatus working as a dispatcher for a local trucking company, he resumed his studies at North Carolina State University, graduating with bachelor’s degrees in Animal Science and Zoology. Dr. Dawkins obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. With forty years of experience, he has developed interests in Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Cardiology. Outside of work, he shares his home with four dogs and two cats and tends to Canada geese, African geese, and Guinea fowl. Dr. Dawkins maintains a passionate interest in wildlife and conservation efforts.

Dr. Ashlyn Reece

DVM
Ever since she was a child, Dr. Ashlyn Reece-Gibson dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Growing up in Hamptonville, NC, she spent countless hours caring for animals and imagining a future where she could help them every day. That dream became a reality when she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte. She later earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.

Dr. Reece-Gibson is not just any veterinarian—she’s a hero to countless cats, especially those with special needs. Alongside her mother, she runs and operates a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization called Saving Them All Rescue, dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens.

At home, Dr. Reece-Gibson lives with her husband and a loving crew of rescued cats and dogs, proving that her commitment to animal welfare doesn’t stop at the clinic door. Whether she’s rescuing cats, providing expert veterinary care, or running her nonprofit, Dr. Reece-Gibson’s passion for animals shines through in everything she does.
